Sirindhorn Wararam Phu Phrao Temple, Chong Mek Subdistrict | Ubon Ratchathani

Sirindhorn Wararam Phu Phrao Temple, also known as the Glowing Temple, is located in Sirindhorn District. Situated on a high hill, this temple recreates the environment of Wat Pa Himmapan or Mount Kailash.
Atop the hill, you can see the golden-painted ubosot (ordination hall). A highlight of the temple is the glowing green Kalpavriksha tree, a painting on the back wall of the ubosot (ordination hall) at night.
Key Highlights of the Temple
The Glowing Kalpavriksha Tree Sculpture: This is the temple's most well-known feature. The Kalpavriksha tree behind the ubosot (ordination hall) is made of fluorescent tiles that absorb sunlight during the day and glow a bluish-green at night. The best time to view it is from 7:30 PM onwards. On a moonless night, the glow and stars are even clearer.
The exquisite Ubosot (ordination hall) is inspired by the architecture of Wat Xieng Thong in Laos, but is much wider and longer. Each pillar is intricately hand-painted, and the exterior features lotus and animal motifs, in keeping with the Four Lotus tradition.
The stunning scenery: The temple sits on Phu Phrao Hill, offering stunning views of the surrounding area, particularly the river and surrounding area. Perfect for enjoying the scenic view.
Basic Information Recommended time to see the glow: From 7:30 PM onwards (Recommended to visit before dusk to enjoy the view and wait for the glow.)
