Wat Tako, the temple of Luang Por Ruay, is a must-see for everyone. Today, we're marking a trip near Bangkok. Besides the well-known Luang Por Ruay, this beautiful temple is a must-see.
Wat Tako is a highly renowned temple in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province. It's a center of Buddhist devotion for Buddhists from all over the country who come to pay homage to Luang Por Ruay Pasatthiko, the former abbot who was known for his compassion and powerful magical knowledge.
Wat Tako is located in Don Ya Nang Subdistrict, Phachi District, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province. This temple is the residence of Luang Por Ruay, a renowned monk and well-known figure among many. His sacred amulets are widely recognized for their numerous Buddhist virtues and his virtuous conduct, which upholds the Buddha's teachings. He was a monk who developed and brought prosperity to Wat Tako for many years. Later, in 2017, Phra Khru Sunthonthammaniwit (Luang Pho Ruay Pasatthiko) passed away at the age of 95. His disciples kept his remains and, upon discovering that Luang Pho Ruay's remains had not decayed, preserved them in a glass coffin.
Getting to Wat Tako
Key Locations and Highlights Phra Mahathat Pasatthiko Pagoda
This large, strikingly beautiful building is a prominent landmark of the temple.
This pagoda was built to enshrine the remains of Luang Pho Ruay Pasatthiko.
Key Features
1. The lower level of the pagoda is a spacious hall housing the glass coffin containing Luang Pho Ruay's incorrupt remains. To allow the faithful to pay their respects.
2. The pagoda was designed by a national artist and professors from Silpakorn University, resulting in exquisite architecture.
3. A large statue of Luang Por Ruay.
4. Statues of Luang Por Ruay in various poses are enshrined at various points within the temple grounds, including a large statue located on a building near the parking lot, a popular spot for devotees to pay their respects and make merit.
5. The new Ubosot.
This newly constructed building houses the principal Buddha image and beautiful paintings of the life of the Buddha. Visitors are encouraged to pay their respects and admire the beauty of the art.
6. The pavilion in the middle of the water.
A Thai-style pavilion in the middle of a pond houses a green statue of Phra Maha Chakkraphat.
The pond is surrounded by Naga statues. It's also a spot where you can feed the fish.
7. A roundabout with a large golden chicken statue.
This is another symbol located in the wide courtyard behind the temple.
Faith in Luang Por Ruay
Luang Por Ruay Pasatthiko is a renowned monk highly revered, especially for his amulets of fortune, wealth, and prosperity (his name "Ruay" is considered auspicious). His sacred objects, such as various amulets and Luang Por Ruay silver bracelets, are highly sought after by devotees.
Coming from Asia-Ayutthaya Road, pass Suvarnabhumi University and continue straight until you reach the bridge over the Pa Sak River. Then, go under the bridge and turn left onto Bo Phong Road. Continue straight until you reach the intersection. Then turn right towards Phachi District. After passing Wat Suek, drive straight for another 2 kilometers. You'll see a sign for Wat Tako. It's another 6 kilometers to the temple.
