Chandrakasem National Museum | Ayutthaya

Chandrakasem Palace is the original palace from the Ayutthaya period. Built in 1577 as the residence of King Naresuan the Great. During the Rattanakosin period, King Mongkut ordered its renovation to serve as a temporary royal residence. Later, during the reign of King Chulalongkorn, the palace was designated the "Monthly Office of the Municipality."
Chandrakasem Palace was the first regional museum, founded by Phraya Boran Ratchathanin. It was renamed the Boran Museum, the Ayutthaya Museum, and the Chandrakasem National Museum, respectively.
