Wat Phra Ngam - Ayutthaya tourist attractions | Ayutthaya

Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province boasts two well-known "Wat Phra Ngam," the most famous and a major tourist attraction being the abandoned temple known as the "Gate of Time."
Wat Phra Ngam (Wat Phra Ngam) is a hidden gem of Ayutthaya. This Ayutthaya attraction may look simple, but its highlight is the "Gate of Time," an ancient archway studded with Bodhi trees, like something out of a fantasy movie! Tourists love to take photos here because of its mystical beauty and the blend of natural beauty and ancient art.
1. Wat Phra Ngam (Khlong Sra Bua) - Abandoned Historical Site
This temple is renowned for its unique beauty and uniqueness.
Former Name: Wat Charam
Location: Located in the Khlong Sra Bua Historical Site Complex, north of Ayutthaya Island, Khlong Sra Bua Subdistrict, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya District
Status: Abandoned temple, presumably abandoned after the second fall of Ayutthaya in 1767.
History: There is no clear evidence of its construction, but archaeological evidence suggests it was built in the 1767 AD period. The layout is in the style popular in the early Ayutthaya period.
Unseen Thailand Highlights
The "Gate of Time" is an ancient temple gate, encircled by the roots of a large Bodhi tree, over 100 years old, entwining and embracing the entire gate, giving the appearance of a passage from the past to the present.
At certain times, especially in the evenings, when golden sunlight shines through the gate, a beautiful image appears, creating a sense of time travel. This is the origin of the name "Gate of Time."
The temple presides over an octagonal chedi, located in front of the ordination hall (ordination hall). It is surrounded by a wall and moat.
2. Wat Phra Ngam (Ban Pom) - A temple with resident monks.
This temple has resident monks in a different location than the abandoned temple at Khlong Srabue.
Location: Ban Pom Subdistrict, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya District, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province.
Status: A public temple. It belongs to the Mahanikaya sect of Buddhism.
Additional information: A search on the map reveals that the location shown is Wat Phra Ngam, located in Ban Pom Subdistrict, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya District. This temple hosts religious and monastic activities.
Most people, when talking about "Wat Phra Ngam, Ayutthaya," think of Wat Phra Ngam (Khlong Srabue), famous for its "Gate of Time," a beautiful abandoned historical site that is a popular photo spot.
