Giant trees, ecotourism | Uthai Thani

The giant tree is located in Ban Rai Subdistrict, Ban Rai District, Uthai Thani Province. It is a 400-year-old Siamese rosewood or bee tree, standing majestically amidst a beautiful grove of betel palms. A distinctive feature of this giant tree is its soft wood, with buttress roots supporting its trunk. It takes approximately 40 people to encircle its trunk with their arms.
Interesting Facts about the Giant Bee Tree:
Size and Age: This is a bee tree (Siamese rosewood or Somphong tree) that is over 300-400 years old. It stands tall and has incredibly large buttress roots (roots that spread out like wings at the base of the trunk) that are remarkably wide. The circumference of the trunk requires dozens of people to encircle it.
Ecosystem: It is called a bee tree because in the past, many bees often built their nests here. It symbolizes the abundance of the forest in this area.
Community Management: The area around the giant tree is located on land owned by a villager (Mr. Tawo), who, together with the community, cares for and develops it as a tourist attraction. Regulations are in place to prevent encroachment or damage to the tree's root system.
Eco-tourism Activities:
Buttress Root Walk: Witness the wonder of nature that provides a stable foundation for the large tree.
Community Market: On Saturdays and Sundays, villagers sell agricultural products, local woven fabrics, and traditional food, directly distributing income to the local community.
Photography: The light filtering through the leaves onto the large tree roots is a popular spot, but please be careful not to climb the roots to help conserve them.
Travel Information and Recommendations:
Location: Ban Sanam, Ban Rai Subdistrict, Ban Rai District, Uthai Thani Province
