Wat Burapha Phiram, a beautiful temple in Roi Et | Roi Et
Wat Burapha Phiram, located in Mueang Roi Et District, Roi Et Province, is a third-class royal temple and one of the most important temples in the Northeast. Phra Phuttha Rattana Mongkol Maha Muni (Luang Pho Yai): The temple's most striking feature is the Buddha image in the blessing posture, made of reinforced concrete and the tallest in Thailand. Standing 59.2 meters (101 sok), including the base, it stands 67.85 meters tall. This revered Buddha image is considered a significant symbol of Roi Et Province.
Museum: Inside the Buddha image are rooms for displaying antiques and religious ceremonies.
History of the Temple
Wat Burapha Phiram was built in 1913. Originally named "Wat Hua Ro," it served as a resting place for merchants and travelers traveling on foot. The name was later changed to "Wat Burapha" due to its location on the east side of the city, before being renamed "Wat Burapha Phiram" today. This sacred Buddha image protects the people of Roi Et and ensures a peaceful and prosperous life. It is believed that paying homage to the Buddha image brings peace and prosperity.
