Tourist attractions at Wat Cheing Tha, a beautiful temple | Ayutthaya

Wat Cheing Tha (Wat Cheing Tha) is a popular temple of the Mahanikaya sect located on the banks of the Lop Buri River in Tha Wasukri Subdistrict, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya District, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province. This ancient temple was built during the reign of King U Thong, although its exact builder remains unknown. The temple is also considered to have strong ties to King Taksin, a legendary meeting between King Taksin and King Rama I during their first ordination as young monks. Furthermore, the Fine Arts Department has designated Wat Cheing Tha as a national historical site.
The temple grounds are divided into two sections: the historical site complex and the sanctuary. Important historical sites include the main prang, a prang dating back to the Ayutthaya period, dating back to around the 22nd Buddhist century.
The vihara, with its thick wooden venetian windows, the only one in Thailand, features beautiful paintings. The surrounding chedis and the sermon hall are also among the highlights of Wat Cheing Tha, including the mural paintings by Kru Kae and his team. These are tempera paintings. Anyone who visits will be captivated by both the beautiful paintings and the temple's antiquity.
This is an ancient temple of historical importance and boasts truly beautiful murals.
The most notable murals are usually found in the sermon hall, dating back to the Rattanakosin period (the reign of King Rama IV). They depict the Ten Lives of the Buddha.
These paintings are particularly interesting, providing insights into the attire, architecture, and various entertainment traditions of Thai society at that time.
Furthermore, the temple features carved wooden pediments that survive from the Ayutthaya period, as well as exquisite architecture such as the five-spire prang and the viharn.
Wat Choeng Tha is therefore a must-see for anyone interested in ancient Thai art.
