Tourist Attractions: Wat Mahathat Worawihan (Wat Mahathat Worawihan), Pho Karong Road | Phetchaburi

Wat Mahathat Worawihan is believed to have been built during the Dvaravati period. Numerous archaeological artifacts have been unearthed within the temple, making it a temple of significant historical significance. Inside the main viharn (wihan) is a highly revered Buddha image in the Mara-Vijaya posture, measuring 8 inches across the lap and holding a fan in his left hand. This revered image is known as Luang Pho Wat Mahathat. Inside the viharn, the surrounding walls feature Ayutthaya-style murals depicting the assembly of deities and Jataka tales by artisans from Phetchaburi.
Behind the viharn is a striking 55-meter-tall, white, five-tiered prang, over 1,000 years old and visible from afar.
Located within the cloister, it houses hundreds of relics of the Lord Buddha. There is also a smaller viharn, architecturally significant from the Ayutthaya period, with a gently curved ship-shaped base. A museum displays Buddha images, porcelain, rare artifacts, and other items, as well as stories about the temple's history. Free admission to all visitors.
Located on Damnoen Kasem Road, Khlong Krachang Subdistrict, Mueang Phetchaburi District, Phetchaburi Province.
This ancient temple is an important religious center of the province. Its sacred five-spired prang can be seen from afar.
