Wat Phra Kaew (วัดพระแก้ว) Phraek Sriracha Subdistrict, Sankhaburi District | Chainat

Wat Phra Kaew, a beautiful temple with a U Thong-style chedi, approximately 700 years old, is considered by archaeologists to be the most beautiful in Thailand. It also houses the Luang Pho Chai statue, built around the 18th-19th Buddhist centuries. It is constructed from five pieces of sandstone. Behind the Buddha image is a sandstone lintel, in the style of ancient Khmer art, depicting Shiva riding the elephant Erawan in an upside-down glass pavilion. It is estimated to be over 1,000 years old. Address: 22 Moo 10, Phraek Si Racha Subdistrict, Sankhaburi District, Chainat Province
