Tourist attractions : Wat Charoen Songtham | Nong Bua Lamphu

Located in Nong Bua Tai Subdistrict, Si Bun Rueang District, Nong Bua Lamphu Province, this temple is an important and well-known landmark in Nong Bua Lamphu Province. Its distinctive architecture is the ancient and beautiful "Sim Mai" (wooden chapel), a unique local feature.
Sim Mai Wat Charoen Songtham
Architecture: This traditional Isan-style wooden sim is constructed entirely of wood. It is compact, with a high, open roof, providing a cool and comfortable atmosphere. The building is rectangular, high, and features a front porch, facing east.
Decoration: The pediment is decorated with carved wooden panels depicting Garuda and honeycomb. The walls are made of horizontal planks. The roof is a double-layered gable, and decorated with carved wooden gables depicting Isan elements.
Phra Principal Buddha Image: Inside the sim is the principal Buddha image in the meditation posture, known to the locals as "Phra Keenor."
History: This wooden sim was built in 1946 and was originally a water sim. (Located in a pond) Later, in 1955, it was moved to land and built with a reinforced concrete base.
Wat Charoen Songtham is open daily from 6:00 AM to 5:30 PM.
