Wat Si Sa Thong is considered the center of Lao people in Vientiane and nearby communities. It has a long history since the reign of King Rama I.

The cooperation of the villagers, most of whom are Lao. When digging the ground to build the temple, they found a golden Buddha head buried in the ground, so the temple was named Wat Hua Thong. Later, the Chedi Bucha Canal was dug, separating from the Nakhon Chai Si River to Phra Pathom Chedi, making it more convenient for the royal procession to pay homage to Phra Pathom Chedi. This canal passes through the southern part of Wat Hua Thong and the village, so the villagers moved closer to the canal. A large Rahu statue for us to pay homage to, and it is believed that if anyone pays homage to Phra Rahu, he will help turn bad things into good things, and will be successful in their careers, have good fortune, progress, and become rich.
