Places to visit in Wat Klang Bang Kaew, exquisite mural paintings | Nakhon Pathom
Wat Klang Bangkaew is located in Nakhon Chai Si District, Nakhon Pathom Province. It is an ancient temple since the Ayutthaya period. It is estimated to have been built in the late U Thong period. This can be seen from the chapel, the ordination hall, and the sema stone pillars that have been renovated to maintain their beauty and look new even though they are old. In addition, this place is also home to Luang Pho To, the sacred Buddha image of Wat Klang Bangkaew.
Both the chapel, the ordination hall, and the Ho Trai are inherited from the original Ayutthaya period architecture, but were later renovated and expanded. The mural paintings in the ordination hall are examples of works of art that were added during the Rattanakosin period. They were painted by skilled craftsmen, resulting in beautiful and intricate patterns that cannot be faulted.
The Phra Phutthawithi Nayok Museum is divided into 3 floors. The first floor is divided into 2 zones. The first section displays the history and belongings, amulets, sacred objects, and Buddha images of Luang Pu Boon and Luang Pu Pluem, the former abbots of Wat Klang Bangkaew. The other section displays Thai herbs, medicines, a calendar of astrology written by Luang Pu, statues, and photographs of Luang Pu. Including palm leaf manuscripts, palm leaf books, astrology books, Thai medicine books, and Phra Malai picture books.
