Phra Borommathat Chedi Srinakarin Sathit Mahasantikiri, Doi Mae Salong | Chiang Rai
Phra Borommathat Chedi Srinakarin Sathit Mahasantikiri
Located on the highest peak at an altitude of 1,500 meters above the village of Santikiri, 4 km from the village, Mae Salong Nok Subdistrict, Mae Fah Luang District, Chiang Rai Province. There is a paved road leading up to the pagoda, but it is very steep and winding. The pagoda was completed around 1996 to commemorate the late Queen Mother. It is an adapted Lanna-style pagoda on a stepped square base, approximately 30 meters high and about 15 meters wide on each side.
It is decorated with gray tiles and has three niches on each side. The main body is adorned with standing Buddha images facing in four directions. The bell-shaped dome is decorated with gold plates carved with patterns. Near the pagoda is an adapted Lanna-style vihara. The location of the pagoda is the highest point of the Doi Mae Salong mountain range. Therefore, one can enjoy a panoramic view, especially in the evening. At the same time, the pagoda stands majestically, visible from afar, serving as another symbol of Doi Mae Salong.
