The National Gallery of Thailand Chana Songkhram District | Bangkok
The National Museum of Art or the Prince Art Gallery is located next to Phra Pin Klao Bridge. It was built in the style of Western architecture by Carlo Allegri, an Italian architect of the Siamese Royal Court. He was inspired by a machinery factory in Birmingham, England. The main building at the front is a 2-storey hip roof with a kite-tile roof. The two sides of the main building are long wings. It is a single-storey building with four right-angled sides that meet in a square shape. The eaves, doors and windows are decorated with beautiful fretwork. It was first opened to the public on May 5, 1978. The former National Museum of Art used to be a Thai coin factory.
