Wat Phan Tao ( วัดพันเตา ), Sriphum Subdistrict, Mueang Chiang Mai District | Chiang Mai

Wat Phan Tao, located not far from Wat Phan On, is another ancient temple in the heart of the city. Located on Phra Pok Klao Road, Phra Singh Subdistrict, Mueang District, it was originally the sanctuary and site for the casting of the Phra Attharot Buddha image at Wat Chedi Luang.
The temple complex houses the most beautiful and complete viharn in Chiang Mai. The building is constructed entirely of teakwood in the Chiang Saen style and was formerly the Ho Kham (Royal Palace) or royal residence of King Mahotaraprades, the fifth ruler of Chiang Mai. Wat Phan Tao is well-known for its teakwood viharn (Ho Kham Luang), which was once the residence of King Inthawichayanont and also served as a repository for the royal ashes. The architecture of the viharn is exquisite and delicate, making it one of the most beautiful teak viharns remaining in Chiang Mai.
Furthermore, within the temple grounds, you can see a large chedi, a blend of late Chiang Saen and Sukhothai styles, which is both ancient and sacred.
The location of Wat Phan Tao has been shown on the map. For more information or directions to Wat Phan Tao, visit:
