Maha Mongkol Bua Pagoda, Mueang Roi Et District | Roi Et Province
The Maha Mongkol Bua Chedi, located in Nong Waeng Subdistrict, Mueang District, Roi Et Province, was built as a memorial to Phra Tham Wisutthimongkol, Luang Ta Maha Bua Yan Sampanno, of Wat Pa Ban Tad. It serves to spread the Dharma and practice Dharma among Buddhist devotees who revere Luang Ta Maha Bua. It is a must-see landmark in Roi Et. A notable feature of the Maha Mongkol Bua Chedi is its striking golden chedi, nestled amidst a beautifully designed garden. Ponds are located in front and on the sides of the chedi, creating a reflection of the chedi on the water's surface. The chedi is of a suitable height and stands out prominently in the middle of a rice field, making it visible from far away. The chedi's spacious grounds provide a tranquil atmosphere, truly befitting a place of powerful Buddhist devotion. The Maha Mongkol Bua Chedi is the only chedi granted permission by Luang Ta during his lifetime. He personally oversaw the land filling, laying of the foundation stone, and enshrining of the Buddha's relics. The chedi was built as a memorial to Phra Tham Wisutthimongkol, or Luang Ta Maha Bua Yan Sampanno, who was then residing at Wat Pa Ban Tad. It is a center for Buddhists who are devoted to Luang Ta Maha Bua. It also serves as a place for spreading the Dharma and practicing Dharma.
The pagoda is divided into four floors.
On the lowest floor, there is a room for preserving Isan folk songs. This collection (a concept initiated by Luang Ta Maha Bua himself) is stored on a server, where you can listen to every song.
On the second floor, there is a library, which houses all of Luang Ta Maha Bua's Dharma books, available for both distribution and reading. There is also a room for listening to Luang Ta's Dharma teachings, which compiles his sermons from 1967 to the present, stored on the server, where you can listen to every sermon.
