Tha Sadet Market is a place to buy local products or OTOP products where most tourists come to buy local products and souvenirs of Nong Khai Province. In addition, Tha Sadet Market is located on the banks of the Mekong River.
Originally, this market was called Tha Ruea Market because before the construction of the Thai-Laos Friendship Bridge, people on both sides of the Mekong River had to use boats to travel and trade bustlingly. Therefore, this area was the immigration checkpoint and an important port.
Later in 1955, there was a major flood. His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great and Her Majesty Queen Sirikit the Queen Mother traveled to visit the people affected by the flood in Nong Khai Province and disembarked from the royal barge at the market's pier. Later, "Tha Sadet Market" was renamed "Tha Sadet Market" to honor His Majesty.
