This ancient temple in Chainat dates back to the Ayutthaya period. Inside the ubosot (ordination hall) is a bronze Buddha image in the subduing Mara posture, a style of U Thong art,
which King Rama V graciously invited to be enshrined there. Also inside is the viharn (wihan) where the image of Luang Pho Thammachak (the Buddha image in the subduing his relatives) is enshrined. The image stands on a lotus pedestal, with the Dharmachakra symbol in the center of his right hand. This Buddhist art combines late Chiang Saen, early Sukhothai, and Ayutthaya styles. The temple also boasts a 565-step staircase.
