Name: Pa Dinso Bridge
Location: Pratu Chai Subdistrict, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya District, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province, near Wat Borom Phuttharam
Distinso Features: This ancient brick bridge crosses the Chakkrai Noi Canal. Its lotus-shaped arches are believed to have been influenced by Western architecture. The bridge's brick paving is laid in a herringbone pattern. It is one of the few ancient bridges with structural traces still visible today.
Ambience: Peaceful, shady, and classically beautiful, perfect for taking vintage photos and learning about history.
Visiting: Open daily (Some sources indicate opening hours: 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM.) Admission is free.
History and Significance
Past Commercial Area: The name "Pa Dinso" comes from the fact that during the Ayutthaya period, this area was a trading center for stationery such as "pencils" (old marble pencils, white and yellow pencils, and black pencils). It was an important trading area for scholars, royal scholars, monks, novices, and officials.
Transportation: This bridge was built to facilitate transportation across the Chakkrai Noi Canal, allowing people to conveniently travel to Wat Borom Phuttharam (the glazed tile temple).
Restoration: The bridge was originally likely made of wood, but was later renovated to brick, giving it its current appearance.
Pa Dinso Bridge is currently located within the grounds of Phranakhon Si Ayutthaya Rajabhat University.
