Thung Kamang is a large grassland area located in Phu Khieo Wildlife Sanctuary, Khon San District, Chaiyaphum Province. It's nicknamed "Thailand's Safari." The natural grassland, situated on alternating hills and valleys, is a montane forest with pine forests interspersed with ying and khao trees, and also offers wide open spaces. This allows visitors to see barking deer, deer, and sambar deer, making it a must-see wildlife spot in Chaiyaphum.
Important Information about Thung Kamang
Location: Phu Khieo Wildlife Sanctuary, Thung Lui Lai Subdistrict, Khon San District, Chaiyaphum Province
Distinctive Features: Thung Kamang is a vast grassland area resembling a pan or basin, surrounded by lush forest.
Importance: It is a vital food source for herbivorous wildlife. This project, initiated by Her Majesty Queen Sirikit the Queen Mother, aims to rehabilitate and conserve wildlife and return them to their natural habitats.
Animals Found: The most notable animal species in Thung Kamang is the sambar deer, a small deer that prefers to live in grasslands. Other wildlife can also be seen, such as barking deer, deer, peacocks, mouse deer, and a variety of birds, including rare species such as leopards, dholes, and gaurs.
Tourism
Activities: Visitors can explore the wildlife along designated trails, offering a great opportunity to spot animals and appreciate the beauty of nature. Opening Hours: Generally open from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, but the sanctuary may be closed during August-October each year for natural rehabilitation.

Foreigners: Adults 400 baht, Children 200 baht
