Chiang Rai Temple, Muang | Lampang
Take a tour of the beautiful white temple, Chiang Rai Temple, Lampang Province.
This temple is white and cloudy like Wat Rong Khun in Chiang Rai Province.
The temple was built in 2200 by Chao Phraya Mahayot Narathibodi Sriphichai Narong, also known as Phraya Cheng, the ancestor of the northern Kachaseni family. He sent Phraya Chomphu, his son, along with his maternal relatives, who were northern princes of the Khattiya Chiang Rai family, to build the village and Chiang Rai Temple to honor the Chiang Rai family. They were granted royal charter in 2457 to preserve the original temple style, which was a blend of Lanna and Central Thai art.
