The Mukdahan Glass Tower, also known as the Mukdahan Glass Tower, is another iconic tourist attraction in Mukdahan Province. The tower is cylindrical in shape, with seven stories and stands over 65.50 meters high. Inside, there's a panoramic glass observation deck offering panoramic views. At the top, you'll find the Mukdahan Crystal Ball, housing a pure silver Buddha image in the Mara-Vijaya posture, named Phra Phuttha Nawaming Mongkhon Dahan.
General Information and Significance: Built in 1996 to commemorate and honor His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great. King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great (Rama IX) on the occasion of the 50th Anniversary of His Majesty's Accession to the Throne (King's Jubilee). Features: A cylindrical tower with a total height of 65.50 meters (equivalent to approximately a 22-story building). The base is a two-story, nine-sided building, symbolizing King Rama IX. Location: Located on Mukdahan-Don Tan Road, approximately 2 kilometers south of the city center.
Interior Components (7 Floors) Floor Features and Exhibits
The 1st floor, the base, houses the Museum of Art and Culture, showcasing tools, utensils, and the way of life of Mukdahan residents in the past.
The 2nd floor houses an exhibition on the history and culture of Mukdahan and the 8 indigenous ethnic groups (such as the Tai Kha, Tai So, and Tai Kaleng).
Floors 3-5, the core of the tower, has an elevator and a spiral staircase leading to the observation deck.
The 6th floor, the observation deck (50 meters high), is an air-conditioned glass-enclosed hall. Enjoy a 360-degree panoramic view of Mukdahan City, the Mekong River, and Savannakhet, Laos.
The topmost part of the 7th floor is called "Mukdahan Crystal Ball." Inside is the "Phra Phuttha Nawaming Mongkol Dahan" (a pure silver Buddha image in the Mara-Vijaya posture) and Buddha images for each day of the week.
