Wat Pak Nam Phasi Charoen
Wat Pak Nam Phasi Charoen is an ancient temple from the Ayutthaya period, located on the banks of the Phasi Charoen Canal. It is famous for its Vipassana meditation, which was initiated by Phra Mongkol Thepmuni, or Luang Pho Wat Pak Nam. The temple’s most notable architecture is the Maha Chedi Maha Ratchamongkol, which houses an 8-meter-high emerald-colored glass pagoda containing the relics of the Lord Buddha, as well as the Phra Buddha Dhammakaya Thepmongkol, a large Buddha statue in meditation posture, which is over 69 meters high.
It is a third-class royal temple, common type, built in the middle Ayutthaya period (between 2031-2172 B.E.) located in the Bangkok plain, which is part of the Chao Phraya River delta. It is located on the banks of Khlong Luang or Khlong Bangkok Yai, which was the original Chao Phraya River before the canal was dug in front of Wat Arun Ratchawararam Ratchaworamahawihan and became the Chao Phraya River today.
