Wat Chedi Luang Worawihan is a royal temple in Chiang Mai Province. It has many names, including Ratchakutakhan, Wat Chotikaram. It was built during the reign of King Saen Mueang Ma, King Rama VII of the Mangrai Dynasty. The exact year of construction is unknown. It is assumed that the temple was built between 1928 and 1945 and has been renovated in many eras. The chedi is 60 meters wide on each side.
Later, Phraya Tilokarat ordered the craftsmen to expand the chedi to be taller and wider than before. It was completed in 2024 and the Emerald Buddha was enshrined here.
Wat Chedi Luang is located in the heart of Chiang Mai City, which was originally considered the administrative center of the Lanna Kingdom. It is located at 103 Phra Pok Klao Road, Phra Singh Subdistrict, Mueang District, Chiang Mai Province. The temple has an area of ​​approximately 32 rai, 1 ngan, and 27 square wa.
