Kanchanaburi City, located at the point where the Khwae Noi and Khwae Yai Rivers meet and form the Mae Klong River, is a popular resort town. Picturesque and worthy of a visit in its own right, it is frequently visited as base of operations for exploring the many cultural, natural, and Historical attractions in the surrounding countryside.
About 190 km. from Kanchanaburi on Highway 323 (Thong Pha Phum-Sangkhla Buri), the national park is situated at Km. 40,
about 30 km. to Amphoe Sangkhla Buri.
Covering an area of 1,497 square meters in Thong Pha Phum and Sangkhla Buri districts, Khap Laem national park is a peaceful jungle sanctuary offering a wide selection of recreation activities. Namtok Kateng Cheng, a 23-level waterfall, is a popular leisure spot for visitors while study trails are also available for those who wish to witness a complex combination of tropical trees and wildlife animals. Beware to visit the waterfall during the rainy season, though.
Khao Laem National Park is a park of about 1,500 square kilometers in western Thailand, located in the northern area of the Tenasserim Hills, Kanchanaburi Province. It is a part of the Western Forest Complex, a system of protected wilderness in the Dawna-Tenasserim Hills area of western Thailand.
The park surrounds the Khao Laem Reservoir in Kanchanaburi province about 340 km northwest of Bangkok. It is cut through by Road 323.
Khao Laem National Park is home to the huge reservoir Khao Laem Lake, which covers the area from Sangkhlaburi district to the northern regions of the park. Khao Laem has beautiful camping spots and floating houseboats on the reservoir for an enchanting stay experience. It also has Thailand's longest wooden teak bridge- Uttamanusorn
