Wat Mahathat Yuwaratrangsarit was originally called “Wat Salak” and is believed to have been established since the Ayutthaya period when Somdet Phra Bowonratchao Maha Sura Singhanat (the younger brother of King Rama I) came across this temple, renovated it, built new permanent structures, and established this temple as the “first royal temple”.
1. Phra Mondop is an architecture built by the Prince of the Palace of the Front to be an important and central part of the temple.
2. Phra Chedi Sri Rattana Mahathat is enshrined in the Phra Mondop Inside contains the relics of the Lord Buddha and the ashes of his father and Prince Maha Sura Singhanat. Having a pagoda containing the relics of the Lord Buddha
3. In the past, the “Ubosot” was known as the largest Ubosot in Rattanakosin. It is a Thai-style building with a high base. The pediment is carved wood covered in gold and decorated with glass. The sema stone is carved to show the image of Narayana riding a swan.
4. “Phra Si Sanphet” is a Buddha image in the Mara-Vijaya attitude, enshrined as the principal Buddha image in the Ubosot. 5. “Luang Pho Hin” is enshrined in the Vihara. It is an old laterite Buddha image that was the original principal Buddha image when it was called Wat Salak. When it was established as a royal temple.
6. “Monument of Prince Maha Sura Singhanat” is half the size and is in a standing position on a pier. Inside the base is soil collected from the land of Prince Maha Sura Singhanat. His Majesty led his army to 28 locations in total.
