Wat Mae Nang Pluem: A Temple and Palace Tour by Tuk-Tuk (Three-Wheeled Vehicle). Wat Mae Nang Pluem is said to have been built in 1920 BE (Buddhist Era), during the reign of King Phangua, the 3rd king of Ayutthaya. ●▪︎History and Significance According to legend, this temple was built as a memorial to "Mae Nang Pluem," a village woman who welcomed King Naresuan the Great when he was traveling alone by boat during a heavy rainstorm. Mae Nang Pluem invited him to rest in her hut and offered him water, unaware that he was a king. Overjoyed by her kindness, after regaining independence, he ordered the construction of a temple on the site of her hut and named it "Wat Mae Nang Pluem." ●▪︎Highlights of Interest Ancient Viharn (Chapel): A well-preserved viharn (chapel) in the early Ayutthaya style, adorned with beautiful stucco carvings on the gable. Luang Pho Khao (White Buddha): The principal Buddha image in the viharn. This pristine white Buddha image in the Maravijaya posture is a highly revered and sacred example of Ayutthaya art.
