located in Bueng Khong Long District, a large lake that is a bird conservation area, especially water birds that migrate during the winter. It can be called a natural tourist attraction with a great deal of biodiversity. The water is rich in various aquatic animals. In the lake area there is also Hat Kham Somboon which has a long sandy beach during the winter.
In 1977, His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great had the Royal Irrigation Department consider a project to store water for agriculture in the dry season, which was completed in 1980 and was declared a Bueng Khong Long Wildlife Sanctuary. Later, in 2001, Bueng Khong Long was registered as the 1,098th Wetland of International Importance in the world due to its natural abundance and being a habitat for various aquatic animals and plants. More than 100 species of water birds have been found.
