Phra Mahathat Kaen Nakhon is located in Wat Nong Waeng, Tambon Nai Mueang, Amphoe Mueang Khon Kaen, Khon Kaen Province. Originally, this temple was an old original temple of Khon Kaen, more than 200 years old. While Phra Mahathat Kaen Nakhon was only built in 1996 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the accession to the throne of King Rama IX.
