Khao Wang is an important tourist attraction and a symbol of Phetchaburi Province, located in Khlong Kra Saeng Subdistrict, Mueang Phetchaburi District, Phetchaburi Province.
It is located on a hilltop that is 92 meters high. King Rama IV built a palace for his royal visit on top of this hill, so he had Somdet Chao Phraya Borom Maha Sri Suriyawong (Chuang Bunnag) lead the construction until it was completed in 1860 and he graciously named it Phra Nakhon Khiri.
Khao Wang has many royal residences, palaces, temples, and various groups of buildings, most of which are in the style of Western Neoclassical architecture mixed with Chinese architecture.
