❃Wat Ratchaprathit Sathit Maha Simaram Ratchaworawihan
Wat Ratchaprathit Sathit Maha Simaram Ratchaworawihan, the temple of King Rama IV (Rama IV), the monarch of the Chakri Dynasty. Every monarch has a temple of their own reign. They built and renovated it as their own temple.
Wat Ratchaprathit is a temple that King Rama IV ordered to be built with his own money in 1864. It is the first temple of the Thammayut sect. He gave it the name Wat Ratchaprathit Sathit Thammayutikaram. Later, the name was changed to Wat Ratchaprathit Sathit Maha Simaram.
Wat Ratchaprathit Sathit Maha Simaram is located on the north side of Suan Saranrom. It covers an area of approximately 2 rai. It is a very small temple. Built during the reign of King Rama IV, with the intention of making it a Thammayut temple, and in accordance with the ancient tradition that there must be 3 important temples in the capital, he donated his personal funds to buy the royal coffee garden in the reign of King Rama III, and built a small temple, which he named Wat Ratchaprathit Sathit Thammayutikaram.
The Royal Vihara has mural paintings of the Twelve Month Royal Ceremonies and solar eclipses.
❃Saranrom Palace
Saranrom Palace is a palace located between the Grand Palace and Wat Ratchaprathit Sathit Maha Simaram Ratchaworawihan, to the east of the Grand Palace. Built during the reign of King Rama IV, it was used as the office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and as a guest house for royal guests.
❃Saranrom Park
Originally, Saranrom Park was a royal park area of Saranrom Palace, which King Rama IV had ordered to be Established in 1866, Saranrom Park was constructed in the early reign of King Chulalongkorn, around 1874, upon the advice of Henry Alabaster. His Majesty ordered Mr. Henry Alabaster to design and build the botanical garden following foreign models. The construction was supervised by Phraya Apirak Ratcha Uthayan (Charoen Amatayakul). Wherever the King visited, he would order that strange plants be brought back and planted at Saranrom Park. Saranrom Park, or Saranrom Royal Park, is a community park located opposite the Grand Palace to the east. In the past, it was a park of Saranrom Palace which was located next door. After the change of government, it became part of the People’s Party. It was used as a venue for the Constitution Festival and the annual Miss Siam contest.
Wat Ratchapradit Sathitmahasimaram. Situated to the north of Saran Rom Park, the Temple is relatively small and covers a total area of approximately 2 rai. It was built in the reign of King Rama IV who intended it to be a temple in the Dhammayutika Sect as well as to be one of the 3 major temples as required by an old Tradition to be situated within the capital. The place was originally a royal coffee plantation in the reign of King Rama III. With his personal donation, King Rama IV bought the plantation and had a small temple constructed there, naming it “Wat Ratchapradit Sathitthammayutikaram”. Later, he had the name changed to “Wat Ratchapradit Sathitmahasimaram”. A place of interest in this temple is Phra Wihan Luang - the royal image hall - which houses mural paintings depicting “The Royal Ceremonies over 12 Months” and legend of the solar eclipse phenomenon.
