Wat Muang temple
The Great Buddha of Thailand, also known as The Big Buddha, is the tallest statue in Thailand, the second-tallest statue in Southeast Asia, and the ninth-tallest in the world. This statue stands 92 m high and is 63 m wide. Construction commenced in 1990, and was completed in 2008. It is painted gold and made of concrete. The Buddha is in the seated posture called Maravijaya Attitude.
Wat Muang is located at Hua Saphan Subdistrict, Wiset Chai Chan District. Ang Thong Province enshrines Phra Buddha Maha Nawamin Sakyamuni Sriwiset Chaichan. It is built from reinforced concrete beams in layers, like a building structure, approximately 32 stories high. Made of bricks and plaster painted gold throughout, it is considered to be the largest Buddha image in the world. that visitors can touch from a small stage and below which they look really tiny. Besides the imposing statue that dominates Wat Muang, there are other wihaans and statues in the garden.
