Ran-Tong Save & Rescue Elephant Centre | Chiang Mai
Ran-Tong Save & Rescue Elephant Centre is an elephant rescue and conservation facility located in Mae Taeng District, Chiang Mai Province. Established in 2009, the center is dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and caring for elephants that have suffered abuse or endured years of strenuous labor.
• Elephant Care: The center prioritizes elephant welfare, shifting away from activities that involve direct physical contact—such as riding or bathing elephants—toward observing natural behaviors, educational engagement, and responsible, conservation-focused tourism.
• Rescued Elephants: Notable residents include Mopona (formerly a logging elephant), Suriya (a former circus elephant), Ludee (formerly a logging elephant), and Ammy (born circa 1983). The center is also home to a younger generation of elephants, including Kham Paka (born 2017), Sandee (born 2019), and MeeDee (born 2021).
