Thai-Myanmar Friendship Bridge, Tha Sai Luat Subdistrict | Tak
This 410-meter-long bridge spans the Moei River, connecting Mae Sot District in Tak Province with Myawaddy in Myanmar. An immigration checkpoint is located near the bridge—similar to the Thai-Lao Friendship Bridge in Nong Khai—though this one is slightly shorter in length.
During the day, simply crossing the bridge allows you to experience the distinct lifestyles and cultures of the people from both countries. At night, the bridge is illuminated, offering a beautiful and romantic atmosphere. If you visit Mae Sot, this is a Tak attraction you shouldn't miss.
Serving as a gateway connecting the Andaman region to Indochina, this bridge measures 420 meters in length and 13 meters in width. It spans the Moei River, linking Mae Sot District (Tak Province) with Myawaddy (Myanmar), and forms part of the Asian Highway route connecting Thailand to Myanmar, South Asia, the Middle East, and Europe. **Border Crossing Information:** Thai tourists and residents of Mae Sot District can cross the border—either on foot or by vehicle—by obtaining a temporary border pass at the Mae Sot Immigration Checkpoint. Fees apply on both the Thai and Myanmar sides, and mandatory vehicle insurance must be purchased.
For inquiries prior to travel, please contact: Mae Sot Immigration Checkpoint: Tel. +66 5556 3002, +66 5556 300
It is advisable to check for details with the Mae Sot Immigration Checkpoint before traveling, as regulations are subject to change. Foreign tourists must present their passports at the Thai immigration checkpoint to receive a border-crossing stamp free of charge. On the Myanmar side, a fee of 10 USD per person is payable at the Myanmar immigration checkpoint (subject to change).
Day trips are permitted between 05:30 and 20:30.
