Wat Phra That Maha Chai was built around 1952. Inside the temple is the Phra That Maha Chai stupa, which is distinctive and different from other stupas because of its octagonal shape, resembling a golden bell. It is believed that this shape is derived from the principles of the Four Arahants (enlightened beings).
