Wat Mahathat Phra That Nakhon Phanom | Nakhon Phanom Province
Wat Mahathat is one of the Mahayana Buddhist temples located in Nai Mueang Subdistrict, Mueang Nakhon Phanom District, Nakhon Phanom Province. It was founded in 1150 AD, concurrently with the founding of Nakhon Phanom city.
The temple is named after the Phra That (pagoda), a place containing the relics of Arahants (enlightened beings).
Phra That Nakhon is one of the important pagodas in Nakhon Phanom Province. It is believed to be a sacred pagoda for those born on Saturdays. It is 24 meters high with a square base 5.85 meters wide. Completed around 1922 AD, it is modeled after Phra That Phanom.
