Wat Tham Chiang Dao (Chiang Dao Cave Temple): A Sacred Site in the Mountains of Chiang Dao | Chiang Mai
Chiang Dao Cave is located at the foot of Doi Luang Chiang Dao mountain. Inside, each cave boasts stunning beauty, including sparkling stalactites and stalagmites.
Legend has it that Chao Luang Kham Daeng, the son of the ruler of Phayao, left his city to search for a beautiful woman who had transformed into a golden deer. He was captivated by her beauty and disappeared into Chiang Dao Cave. Chao Luang Kham Daeng followed her inside but never returned. It is believed that he was reborn as a powerful deity residing within the cave, protecting it.
Entrance Fee for Wat Tham Chiang Dao, Chiang Mai:
There is a maintenance fee of 20 baht per person for Thais and 40 baht per person for foreigners.
If you wish to explore the dark inner cave area, which has no electricity, an additional fee will apply. There will be an additional charge of 200 THB per group for a guide and lantern.
