Chandrakasem Palace is the original palace from the Ayutthaya period. Built in 1577 as the residence of King Naresuan the Great. During the Rattanakosin period, King Mongkut ordered its renovation to serve as a temporary royal residence. Later, during the reign of King Chulalongkorn, the palace was designated the "Monthly Office of the Municipality."
