Lak Si Rat Samoson Temple , Ban Phaeo District | Samut Sakhon

This temple houses Luang Pho To, an ancient Buddha statue from the Uthong period. Made of red sandstone and covered with plaster, it depicts the Maravijaya posture (victory over Mara). Its distinctive feature is its serene and gentle smile. Additionally, there is a Luang Pho To Mahayana Park in a Chinese style, situated in a cave within the mountain.
Inside the temple is enshrined "Luang Pho To," an ancient Buddha statue in the Uthong style, made of red sandstone coated with plaster. The statue depicts the Maravijaya posture, with a serene and gentle smile. It measures 81 inches wide at the base and 99 inches tall.
Although there is no documented evidence of its construction, stories of its sacredness and the legend of Luang Pho To's journey continue to be recounted to this day. Originally, Luang Pho To was enshrined in an old temple in Samut Songkhram province. Before the temple was abandoned, the statue was left exposed to the elements. Then,
Luang Pho Faeng, the abbot of Wat Don Manora in Ratchaburi province and a prominent disciple of Luang Pho Khong of Wat Bang Kapom, a famous monk of the Mae Klong River basin, brought Luang Pho To to be enshrined at Wat Don Manora. Later, in 1927, the villagers of Lak Si invited Luang Pho Faeng to become the abbot of Wat Lak Si Ratsamokhon, and also brought Luang Pho To to be enshrined there. It has remained there ever since. Luang Pho To has become a focal point of faith for the community along the Damnoen Saduak canal, with stories of miracles attributed to the statue that continue to inspire unwavering devotion. Beyond the beauty of the temple and the statue itself,
a highlight not to be missed is the “Luang Pho To Mahayana Park,” an intricately constructed replica cave. Behind it, a waterfall cascades down a cliff, creating a serene atmosphere perfect for worship, meditation, and spiritual relaxation. Wat Laksi Ratsamokorn, formerly known as “Wat Mai Laksi Ratsatthatha,” was established with land donated by Mr. Jam Wasukri, a devout Buddhist, before being renamed “Wat Laksi Ratsamokorn” as it is known today.

Today, this temple is not only a sacred religious site but also a cultural tourism destination beautifully reflecting the faith and history of the local community.
