In the past, this area was part of Thung Kula Rong Hai, a dry area with virtually no water throughout the year. However, in 2007, the area was dredged to create a water retention basin. Later, the Royal Irrigation Department excavated over 750 rai of land into a large wetland, which was able to store a significant amount of water. This became a vital water source for agriculture, revitalizing the surrounding area and revitalizing the wetland. The wetland was later named Thung Kula Lake.
