"100-Year-Old Ancient House" in Tha Rae, Sakon Nakhon Province: An Ancient Stone Building | Sakon Nakhon Province
#This ancient house is located in Tha Rae Subdistrict, Mueang Sakon Nakhon District, Sakon Nakhon Province.
This house is approximately 90-100 years old and belonged to Mr. Nu Sriworakun (Hien Riendungdung) and Mrs. Noonah Uppapong, who were the children of Phraya Prachantaprathetthani, the governor of Sakon Nakhon at that time.
Previously, it was used as a residence, but during World War II,
the government ordered the closure of the church and prohibited its use for any ceremonies. This forced Christians to find a new location for their ceremonies. Because the descendants of the house's owners were Christian priests, they allowed the house to be used for religious ceremonies.
Many older Christians used this house for their wedding ceremonies. Unfortunately, the house was later destroyed by fire, leaving it severely dilapidated, and no restoration has been undertaken. This resulted in Bodhi trees growing around the walls of the 100-year-old ancient house, leaving it as a deserted house as we see it today, which is both unique and incredibly beautiful. In addition, the community also has OTOP shops where you can stop by and shop for souvenirs to take home.
