Betong Mongkhonrit Tunnel is located in Betong District, Yala Province. It is the first car tunnel under the mountain in Thailand and is considered another important landmark of Betong.
The first tunnel under the mountain in Thailand: Built with reinforced concrete, it is approximately 268-273 meters long, 9 meters wide, and 7 meters high. It was officially opened on January 1, 2001.
Purpose: Built to facilitate travel, connecting many roads in Betong, such as Amornrit Road, Phakdi Damrong Road, Public Park, and Mongkhon Prachak Road.
Design and decoration: The tunnel has been renovated with the installation of electrical systems, lighting, and CCTV cameras. The curved ceiling and both sides of the tunnel walls are decorated with perforated aluminum in the shape of tourist attractions and various symbols of Betong, making it beautiful and unique. Photo spot: At night, the tunnel is lit, making it a beautiful spot and popular with tourists who come to take photos and check in. Especially in the evening, there will be many tourists taking pictures in front of the tunnel.
