Wat Phra Kaew is one of the most important temples in Chiang Rai Province because it is the place where the Emerald Buddha was discovered.
It has been invited to be enshrined in various places, including Lampang, Chiang Mai, Luang Prabang, Vientiane, Thonburi, and Bangkok. Currently, Wat Phra Kaew Chiang Rai enshrines the Jade Buddha, which is a Buddha image created on the occasion of Her Majesty Queen Srinagarindra's 90th birthday.
Wat Phra Kaew Chiang Rai is located at 19 Moo 1, Trairat Road, Wiang Subdistrict, Mueang Chiang Rai District, Chiang Rai 57000, Thailand. It is an ancient temple since the 14th century that enshrines a sacred replica of the Emerald Buddha of Thailand, which was discovered in 1434. The temple is open to visitors every day.
